Happy Birthday To Me

Well, you only turn 25 once and I just did it! A quarter of a century and I really don't feel any older than I did the day before my birthday. What made it fantastic was that my mother flew up here to spend the weekend with me and help me celebrate. A few great presents and many many many wonderful meals behind me, and I was thrilled that my 25th birthday went well! You only turn 25 once, and I had a great birthday!

Two Down...

Hearts has now officially ended. The final performance of the second show of the season has come and gone. We did the lovely champagne toast, said goodbye to some good people and I took most of the cast to the train station this evening. The last member of the cast leaves tomorrow and the stage manager the following day. It truly was a wonderful cast to work with and I will miss them all terribly.

The day was made a little more hectic with our third show of the season, Joe Turner's Come and Gone, in tech and having their Tech Dinner this evening. I do have to say that the volunteers for tonight's dinner were fantastic! They had everything down to a science and they were ready to go. I can only hope that the remaining three tech dinners go as smoothly.

Today's weather was disgusting. I'm very happy that I am in for the night and I'm even debating turning in early. So with that said...goodnight to all!

Thanksgiving

Well, this was the end of an era for me. This Thanksgiving marked the 1st time EVER that I spent Thanksgiving away from family. I'm sure I will have more too, but this was kind of a big deal. My 25th Thanksgiving and I wasn't with any family. Sure, I had the possibility of making it to family, what with some only an hour and a half away and some only six hours away. But this was about being on my own and it turned out great.

The Intern Potluck Thanksgiving was a hit. The food was piled high on the table, alcohol was plentiful and the company was great. We watched some football and then bad movies on tv. We ate....and ate.....and ate and just had an all around good time.

My contributions to the feast were:
Pumpkin Pie
Spice Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting (made from scratch!)
Pumpkin Bread
Gravy (yes, random)
and I helped with the Turkey (chopping veggies and prepping the bird)

On top of it all, I was able to see my classmate, her boyfriend, and my HANDSOME god-puppy! That's right, I said it...I have a god-puppy and I love him to pieces! He's gotten so big and slender and sleek and adorable and I could go on and on about him. He's wonderful and it was great to see him and his mom!! I need to go and visit them in DC!

I wish I could have been with family. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be...but I was grateful for the Thanksgiving I did have with all the wonderful people I got to share it with. That's what Thanksgiving is all about.

Scare Tactics

Ok.

For those who know me, you know I don't scare easily. Well, today something did occur that I felt I needed to share. It was something that I wouldn't necessarily put in the "scare" category, but my heart definitely skipped a beat...

Currently at the theatre, we are running Arsenic and Old Lace. I was running around from dressing room to dressing room today distributing various pieces of information to the actors. 11 out of 12 of our actors are located in the dressing rooms on the 2nd floor of the building (which are the traditional rooms for our Main Stage Theatre, which is located on the 1st floor). Anyway, 1 actress is in the lone dressing room on the stage level due to her bad knees.

So, I'm going around dropping off information and I get to the final dressing room. I had never been to this room before. I even had to search for it because I hadn't even seen the door in passing. As I unlock the door, turn on the lights and enter the space, two dead bodies are facing me!

I had not been expecting to run into the 2 dead body props from the show (which btw, are EXTREMELY realistic)!! Let's just say, the heart did skip a beat and I'm grateful that I now know where they are being kept!

Grocery Trip

So, I'm a little late at posting this due to a number of things, but I figured someone else may enjoy to know what happened 2 Friday's ago...

So as part of my job, I take actors to the grocery store three times a week to three different stores. Friday is designated Whole Foods day. We have sign up sheets for them to write their name if they want to go.

Two Friday's ago, I headed up to the sign up sheet to see who, if anyone, was going with me that morning...these were the people on my list:

Fiona Apple
Sting
Adolf Hitler
Keith Richards
Sinead O'Connor
Michaelangelo

Fantastic...and interesting....group of people...

Got to love my job...and my actors with a sense of humor...

Random Signs

So, I was reminded, while I was driving on 83 today, that I needed to post these two signs that I have been a witness to.

This one is a billboard on the side of 83 North, just as your leaving Downtown Baltimore:

Sex can wait. Your future can't.

Very telling, don't you think?! I like it because it's so random on the side of the highway.

Now, this is a classic and I witnessed this on below a used card dealership sign in Asheville:

Wedding dress for sale. Only worn once, by mistake.

BRILLIANT! I think it was a fantastic ad, and it was made even better by the placement, because it has NOTHING to do with cars.

I'm just saying...two great signs to brighten your day.

Notable Quotes

I wanted to add some of my favorite quotes as of late...they reflect some of my current mood, but I also just like them for what they are and who wrote them...I guess you could say they were "deep" but I just like the flow of them...

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
-Fire and Ice by Robert Frost

These violent delights have violent ends
And in their triumph die, like fire and powder,
Which, as they kiss, consume.
-Romeo & Juliet, Act II, Scene iv

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,
thou shalt not eat of it:
for in the day that thou eatest thereof
thou shalt surely die.
-Genesis 2:17

And so it begins...

Well, this is the first of hopefully many posts. I am trying this in a new and exciting, yet darker time in my life. As I begin a new job in a new city, I think back on the life I have had so far and I'm grateful. Everything has led me to this point. While I am currently under some emotional stress, I do not regret what has gotten me here. Everything happens for a reason...maybe. I'm not entirely sure I agree with this statement, but it's more than what I have to go on at the point. My future isn't very clear, nor did I expect it to be. Although I wish it were more clear than my current vision allows.
My blog's address, I believe, suits me well. At least the stubborn part. Angel? Probably more like devil, but I truly think that "stubborn" and "angel" combined suit me better. Hell, Lucifer was considered a "fallen angel" but that was already taken. As for the blog heading, well, I do believe this. I feel deep down I have had and probably will always have trouble with my soul. I don't think I've ever completely understood and nor will I understand the capability of my soul. I guess it will just have to come down to that final day...
